Just For Momma- Roots

my tribe Jul 10, 2016

I first want to welcome you to my website, whether you are reading because you are curious, skeptical or seeking support- I welcome you all! I have been on a journey myself. A journey that has brought me through low points and high. I have experienced the full spectrum of motherhood and seek to offer my insight and support to others. As a young parent I felt isolated, lonely and oftentimes afraid. While I had friends, family and a supportive husband, they couldn't always be there during the wee hours in the night when our newborn was screaming and I was struggling. Blogs, articles and even photos from understanding and empathetic mothers gave me strength to last some of those lonely nights. I discovered a kinship from these online support groups. While online support can never replace the refreshing presence of meeting together with other mothers, it can be a supplemental support. In this digital age we can use the internet to gain knowledge and insight, find support and form a sisterhood. My goal in creating Just For Momma is to help educate, empower and inform mothers- in order to strengthen their families. Mothers play a key role to a family. Like the old adage says, "if mom is happy, every one is happy." Whether that was true for you or not growing up, if your mother was supportive or manipulative to your home environment- know that this is a new generation. You have the ability as a mother to set the emotional tone of the family. You provide the nurturing support, whether a home maker or working mother. You are the creator and sustainer of your children's lives! Mothers are essential. Now, while I have opinions on things like breastfeeding or attachment parenting--the one thing that truly matters is this--despite our differences we must learn to provide encouragement to one another. Despite all the different approaches we have to being moms we must all be a support during those dark, difficult days & rejoice at even the small victories. I have learned so much during my time as a mother is that ALL opinions matter and we EACH have something to offer. I have learned how to be a better mother--FROM OTHER MOTHERS! Please understand I do not discriminate against fathers in Just For Momma, I know personally the essential role that fathers have in the life of a child. But my goal is centrally focused on supporting mothers because I am one. I know this role intimately. I celebrate all types of families, knowing each are special and unique. But it's mothers that I write for because I am one. Join me on my journey through motherhood and be a part of my tribe, I welcome you! :)
